Astrocartography for Healing: Where You Feel Rooted and Restored
How to read an astrocartography map for healing and growth: the Imum Coeli, the Moon and Chiron, what the Healing and Growth heatmap scores, and what a map is not: a medical or therapeutic tool.

The short version. For healing, look at the Imum Coeli (IC) and at the Moon and Chiron. The IC is the angle for your private, rooted life. The Healing and Growth heatmap scores every place using the twelfth, fourth and sixth houses. A map is a lens for reflection. It is not a medical or mental health tool.
What the angle is
Every astrocartography line marks one of four angles. For restoring yourself, the one that matters is:
- IC, the Imum Coeli. The point where a planet was directly underfoot. It is the angle for your private, rooted life: home, family, where you retreat to.
The Moon adds the second half. The Moon is the planet of feeling safe and nourished. Chiron is the wound that teaches: a Chiron line marks places where that theme is most angular for you. It is not a place to avoid and not a promise of healing. It describes what a place tends to bring up.
What the heatmap does
The Healing and Growth heatmap scores every point on the globe using the twelfth, fourth and sixth houses, keyed to the Moon and Chiron:
- The twelfth house, rest, retreat and what is hidden.
- The fourth house, home and roots.
- The sixth house, daily care and routine.
Brighter is where more of your chart points at those themes. It is arithmetic on your chart, and the same chart gives the same map twice. Click any bright spot and the panel shows what is behind the score. How the heatmap works has the full method.

The lines to look at next
- The IC lines. Each planet has one. Look at the places where a line runs through somewhere you could imagine resting.
- The Moon. Its lines show where feeling at home is most angular for you.
- Chiron. Look at its lines, and read them as terrain, not as a warning.
- Crossings. A crossing labeled Moon IC × Chiron DC, for example, names two lines that meet at one latitude. This page explains the classical name.
Reading your map, step by step shows how close is close enough. If you cannot travel, astrocartography without traveling shows how to read the lines over where you already live.
A good way to check it
Double-click a place where you once felt at home, or a place you could not wait to leave. See which lines run through it. If the map matches what you felt, you have learned the language. If it does not, that is information too.
What a map is not
A map is not a medical, therapeutic or mental health tool, and it cannot treat or diagnose anything. It will not tell you that a place will heal you. It shows where your chart leans toward rest, and gives you a way to ask what a place calls out of you. If you are struggling, a qualified professional is the right call.
